For Jubril Adewale Tinubu, the head honcho of leading Oil and Gas company, Oando Plc, getting positive result that will position Oando as a world class brand to reckon with remains his top priority. He is  proving to the world  that; he knows the Oil and Gas business like the back of his hands.

The very brilliant businessman is proving to the world that he is definitely a master in the art of making money.

To say that the Lagos State born is a big player in the oil and gas industry is stating the obvious, in fact, he has emerged a glittering star in the business firmament. The trained lawyer plies his trade in such a way that makes many of his competitors green with envy. Indeed, he enjoys uncommon grace so much that he now sits atop a multi-billion naira conglomerate with various subsidiaries in oil & gas, properties and so many other businesses scattered around the world.

It’s no longer a hidden fact that the Oando boss, had always displayed his unrivalled wizardry and Midas touch with his wealth of experience in business. This has helped him weathered all typhoon storm surfacing.
Wale Tinubu is still standing tall like the proverbial iroko tree.

The czar and his team had yet again proved their worth by keeping Oando afloat and also put smiles on the face of investors by positioning the oil firm among the best in the world.
With this growth as revealed , the man has been described as a champion extraordinaire whose magic wand is forever potent even when least expected.

Wale Tinubu’s success may not come as a surprise to those close to him
because he has over the years, shown evidence that he’s well versed in
oil and gas business; and like a business cognoscenti, he knows when to
throw the dice and even reinvent in a shaky business environment. The
words of a former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill; “The
empires of the future are empires of the mind” gives credence to Tinubu’s evident ability to successfully overcome challenges.

The story started almost 31 years ago, precisely December 1994, from a relatively small  company, Ocean and Oil Services Limited with his friends, Omamofe Boyo and Onajite Okoloko to supply diesel and Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO) to various industries, shipping firms and exploration.

Tinubu has grown into perhaps one of the biggest players in world oil business. To those with discerning minds, his success, which ranks him as not one of your run-off-the-mill businessmen, is rooted in his uncommon brilliance and business acumen.

Interestingly, more than three  decades aher  sowed in pains, the investment has grown, before his very  eyes, to become a multinational conglomerate worth millions of dollars spread across five West Africancountries. At the outset, they bought their first vessel, MT Carolina, in the mid-90s to supply diesel to off-shore companies from the Port-Harcourt Refinery.

Tinubu’s continued success is worthy of emulation by entrepreneurs and prospects especially in Nigeria’s inclement business environment.

In philanthropy, Tinubu takes seriously the Islamic teaching that enjoins the faithful to be generous. Today, in Nigeria, his name ranks among those most synonymous with the altruism. Blessed with a deep – pocket, a large heart and even deeper passion for humanity, the philanthropist has over the years proved to be a pacesetter in terms of humanitarian gestures.

In this, he deserves a resounding thumbs up. He has lifted countless souls with his magnanimity; he has been an angel of hope for the heavy-hearted around him; he has also lavished his favours on millions around the globe; and he has provided a torch that lights the dark path of the hopeless in the society.

As an entrepreneur of repute, he has provided employment opportunities for several, in and outside the country, thereby enabling them to live their dreams.

Though he does not court publicity for his humanitarian gestures, he is nonetheless an unsung hero. His worthy deeds have not gone unnoticed, as he has been honoured, both at home and abroad for making his world a better place to live in.

Kola Karim’s Shoreline Group has signed a letter of intent with Accor, a world leading hospitality group to establish Nigeria’s first national hotel platform.

The signing took place during the Africa Forward Summit 2026 hosted jointly by Kenya and France in Nairobi.

This ambitious partnership is set to make a significant contribution to the evolving Nigerian hospitality landscape with a substantial investment from Shoreline of $300 million, leveraging Accor’s renowned brand portfolio and expertise.

As gathered the strategic collaboration aims to develop a hotel network across Nigeria, encompassing 10 hotels across eight cities and over 1,200 rooms by 2030.

These properties will span various segments, from midscale to luxury, catering to diverse travelers and contributing significantly to the nation’s tourism growth. The project also includes the establishment of a dedicated hospitality training Academy to nurture local talent and create approximately 1,000 direct jobs.

Mr. Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor, stated: “We are thrilled to partner with Shoreline Group to unlock the immense potential of Nigeria’s hospitality sector. This partnership is a testament to our belief in Nigeria’s dynamic future.

“By combining Shoreline’s deep understanding of the local market with Accor’s global expertise and diverse brand portfolio, we are poised to create an unparalleled hospitality offering that will set new benchmarks for quality and service.

“Crucially, the establishment of the Accor Academy is integral to this vision, enabling us to deliver immediate talent development for the Shoreline hotel portfolio, demonstrate our long-term commitment to Nigeria through dedicated training facilities, and solidify Accor’s position as the employer and educator of choice in West Africa.”

The Agbaoye of Ibadanland and  Chairman of Shoreline Group, Karim,  commenting on the development said: “This partnership is central to Shoreline’s strategy of building institutional-quality infrastructure platforms across Africa.

“We anticipate hospitality infrastructure becoming increasingly vital for capital movement and development, particularly in Nigeria where high-quality room supply is underserved. Our choice to partner with Accor highlights our focus on operational excellence and long-term value.

“The hospitality academy is crucial, alongside physical hotels, for developing local talent to sustain international standards. It will support our portfolio and enhance Nigeria’s hospitality workforce.

“This investment aligns with Shoreline’s broader focus on strategic assets in energy, infrastructure, and industrial development. We view hospitality as a natural extension: real infrastructure supporting economic activity, local capability, and national growth.”
