Delta State Police arrest suspected cultists and armed robbers in Warri, Ughelli, and Sapele; firearms and live ammunition recovered during intelligence-led operations

The Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected cultists and armed robbers in intelligence-led operations across Warri, Ughelli, and Sapele, recovering firearms and live ammunition.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the operations led to the seizure of one pump action gun, one fabricated Beretta pistol, one cut-to-size locally fabricated double-barrel gun, and 27 live cartridges.

On 27 February 2026, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team led by ASP Julius Robinson arrested Oghenemaro Festus of Upper Agbarho in Ughelli.

A pump action gun loaded with two live cartridges was recovered. The suspect is linked to a series of house-to-house robberies in the area.

In Sapele, following reports of serial robberies by a motorcycle-riding syndicate, Prince Omanure, 21, was arrested on 1 March 2026.

He led police to a bush along Warri Sapele Road near the Trailer Park, where a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition was recovered. Investigations to apprehend other members of the syndicate are ongoing.

Meanwhile, on 27 February 2026, the Quick Response Squad led by SP Achem Collins raided a building on Okwagbe Street, Igbudu, Warri, arresting three suspected cultists: Nelson Mudiagha (aka Diara), Efe Nyore, and Ebube Ifeanyi.

A locally fabricated double-barrel gun and 17 live cartridges were recovered. The suspects confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity, also known as Ayes.

CP Aina Adesola assured residents that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
