Bayern Munich will be without striker Harry Kane for their Bundesliga clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach due to a calf injury, confirmed coach Vincent Kompany ahead of the match.

Kane, England’s leading forward, has been a consistent presence for Bayern this season, scoring 45 goals across all competitions. Kompany described the injury as minor but said Kane requires additional recovery time.

“Harry Kane is out. He got a knock on his calf and hasn’t recovered yet,” Kompany told reporters. “It’s just a knock, it’s nothing serious over the long term, but we’d need maybe another day for him to be involved.”

The coach added that Bayern remain confident despite Kane’s absence. “We’re pretty relaxed. Of course we would have liked Harry to be involved, but these things happen. Any time Harry isn’t there, some of the boys will be hoping they can have their moment.”

Bayern strengthened their position at the top of the Bundesliga with a 3-2 comeback win over Borussia Dortmund last weekend, taking an 11-point lead. Kane scored twice in that match, further solidifying his pivotal role in the team’s title defence.

The England striker is expected to be fit in time for Bayern’s Champions League last-16 first leg against Atalanta next Tuesday.
