Speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes referenced Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United, admitting he only saw part of the game but was left unconvinced by Ødegaard’s tactical role.

He described the Norwegian playmaker as technically gifted but argued that his on-field responsibilities have not been executed effectively.

According to Scholes, Ødegaard frequently drifted into deeper areas during the early stages of the match, a movement he believes disrupts Arsenal’s structure.

Despite the criticism, the former England international was quick to praise Ødegaard’s ability, calling him “brilliant” on the ball and highlighting his technical quality.
