Segun Adebutu, Chairman, Petrolex Oil, is one of the prominent sons of the billionaire businessman and lottery entrepreneur, Chief Kessington Adebutu, (a.k.a. Baba Jebu).

He shares a lot in common with his father, who is also the Odoole of Ife: business acumen and philanthropy.

As a businessman, he has done so well for himself to the admiration of his father.

Also, as a philanthropist, he is also trying to amplify his father’s famed legacy of benevolence and generosity.

Indeed, he has been making conscious efforts to put smiles on the faces of the hoi polloi in the society since 2014 when he founded his Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu Foundation(OOAF).

In line with the pristine vision of the Foundation , which he eventually launched in 2016, Adebutu, who is also an entertainment promoter, has offered to feed 300 children.

Contrary to insinuation by critics, this is not a one-off gesture. It will be recalled that the billionaire oil mogul in October 2019 renovated  the School of Special Needs, Kwara State.

Two months after, precisely December 7, the Foundation’s Impact Investment Network, in partnership with Petrolex Group, empowered 245 beneficiaries under the umbrella of the Petrolex Impact Investment (PIIN).

During the Foundation, motorcycles, deep freezers, generators, water pumping machines, hairdryers, barbing equipment sets, farming equipment and other items were handed over by the wife of the governor of Ogun State on behalf of OOAF to the beneficiaries.

Recently, the Foundation in partnership with Jump Africa took a trip down to New York to purchase school books and learning materials that were distributed to orphans as well as other vulnerable children in the society. 

The Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun thanked the chairman of the OOA Foundation for the laudable initiative behind the foundation, saying that the task of developing the community required joint efforts and assured that this development initiative will surely have positive ripple effects. She also said that the Ogun State government was also not relenting in revamping communities in the State and reiterated the resolve of the government to end poverty by the year 2030.

While wife to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Salamatu Gbajabigbamila, who was at the event commended the efforts of the OOAF in its generous approach to transform society, especially children with special needs, and also commended the entrepreneurial initiative of the foundation to reduce poverty, saying it was a wake-up call for meaningful citizens to “pool resources to tackle poverty in Nigeria.”
