Weeks after House 30 Bar and Lounge, located in the serene and upscale Akora Villas, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, rolled out the drums to celebrate its second anniversary, the proprietors have unveiled plans to open a strictly-for-lodging outlet within the estate.According to Akinwale Oluwaleimu, the CEO of Seanlex Entertainment, the parent company of the hospitality outfit, “Our growing clientele base and demand for our services has necessitated having a second branch. Thankfully, we were lucky to get a property within the same estate for this purpose.” He disclosed that unlike the pioneer outlet which has decent accommodation, a functional bar and lounge, the new outlet would be strictly for accommodation. “We don’t have a bar or lounge there except for top-notch room services. The intention is to ensure that those who come to lodge enjoy the full complements of our accommodation experience.”Indeed, since its opening, House 30 has quickly emerged as one of the go-to places for classy and exclusive lounging experience in Ikeja and environ especially for its near-perfect valet and dining services and courteous staff. A newly remodelled VVIP lounge area for private parties was opened days before the anniversary while it regularly plays host to its clientele and revelers on Thursdays (Old Skool Night) and Fridays (Comedy Night).
“We are extremely humbled to not only still be here but to be adding new attractions to start our third year of growth. We are always looking for ways to improve the House 30 lounge experience.“We listened to customer feedback on what is missing from the area; what we needed to do to improve their experience once inside the door, and we took a little time last year to remodel the layout of the venue,” said Oluwaleimu. He assured guests during the well-attended anniversary celebrations that the new House 30 Hotel would open for business in a matter of weeks. Some of the notable guests included the publisher of Ovation magazine and former presidential aspirant, Bashorun Dele Momodu; PR guru, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya; the publisher, Global Excellence magazine, Mayor Akinpelu; former Commissioner for Tourism in Lagos State, Hon. Rapper Ms Jorji has alleged that her father sexually abused her throughout her childhood, from the age of about 11 until she turned 18.

Speaking in a recent discussion, she said the abuse continued for seven years while her family focused on protecting her father’s image and the family’s reputation.

“My father molested me all through my childhood,” she stated. She described a wider culture in which families often prioritise appearances over the welfare of victims.

Ms Jorji claimed sexual assault was common among women she knew, including people who worked for her, with alleged perpetrators ranging from relatives to religious figures and neighbours. “There is an epidemic that is going on in our country,” she said.

She also recounted assisting a friend who was allegedly raped in Nigeria about three months ago, saying she spent approximately ₦1 million to encourage police action, though the case remained unresolved after the suspect fled.

The rapper criticised the tendency of families to shield alleged perpetrators. “Protect my father, protect the image of the family,” she recalled being told. She argued that this focus on reputation allows abuse to continue.

Ms Jorji further challenged the idea that biological ties alone define family. “Family is not about blood. Family is the people who want the best for you and you can create family,” she said. “Just because you’re born into a family does not mean that’s where you’re supposed to stay.”

Her comments form part of a broader conversation on sexual abuse, family silence and the challenges victims face in seeking support and justice.

As the festive season gathers momentum, celebrated Nollywood actor Yomi Fash-Lanso is preparing to serve lovers of good music, nostalgia and culture a memorable evening with the third edition of FAAJI-LAWA with Yomi Fash-Lanso, billed for December 23 in Ikeja, Lagos.

The forthcoming edition, tagged FAAJI-LAWA XTRA, promises a refreshing blend of vintage Nigerian music, cultural expression and festive entertainment. The event will hold at Sinatra Place, Ladipo Oluwole Street, Ikeja, with an added touch of glamour under the theme, African Attires Affairs.

Conceived by Fash-Lanso, FAAJI-LAWA has gradually carved out a distinctive space for itself by celebrating the timeless sounds of legendary Nigerian musicians, particularly those whose music shaped the social and cultural experiences of southwestern Nigeria.

Beyond its entertainment appeal, the initiative seeks to reconnect audiences with the melodies, rhythms and lyrical richness of an era when music was not merely a source of pleasure but also a vehicle for storytelling, cultural preservation and shared memories.

For the actor, the forthcoming edition represents an opportunity to take the experience a notch higher, bringing together music enthusiasts, culture lovers and fun seekers for an evening of nostalgia and conviviality.

“I believe that the music of yesteryears offers more value and noteworthy lessons than what is obtainable today. Many of these songs are filled with tunes and melodies that bring back enjoyable moments and create wonderful, loving environments through their lyrics,” Fash-Lanso explained.

The concept is deliberately inclusive, cutting across generations and welcoming both the young and the old. While older guests can relive cherished memories through familiar classics, younger audiences will have the opportunity to discover the music that defined an earlier generation.

The event is also expected to appeal to Nigerians in the diaspora returning home for the holidays, offering them an opportunity to reconnect with familiar sounds, cultural traditions and the social atmosphere of home.

With the African Attires Affairs theme, guests can also expect fashion and cultural identity to feature prominently in the evening’s experience, adding colour and character to the celebration.

As the third edition, FAAJI-LAWA XTRA is designed to build on the promise of its predecessors while offering a more glamorous and expansive experience.

For Fash-Lanso, the ambition goes beyond staging another entertainment event. It is about preserving a musical heritage, rekindling fond memories and creating a meeting point where generations can connect through the enduring power of music.

With December 23 drawing closer, FAAJI-LAWA XTRA is positioning itself as one of the festive season’s distinctive gatherings for lovers of old-school Nigerian music, fashion and cultural celebration.
