The high-level engagement, held on Wednesday, July 29, brought together PCRC leaders, traditional rulers, heads of security agencies, community representatives and other stakeholders in Remoland for discussions on improving cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

The security summit focused on ways to enhance intelligence sharing, strengthen public trust and develop practical approaches to tackling security challenges, including kidnapping, cultism, ritual killings, illegal arms trafficking and cybercrime.

Speaking during the summit, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking emphasised that security requires the collective commitment of citizens, government institutions and security agencies.

“Security is far too important to be left to the Police alone. Every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding our communities. This is the vision upon which the PCRC was founded,” he said.

The PCRC National Golden Patron described the organisation’s slogan, “PCRC… Peace to the Nation,” as a reminder of the importance of partnership and shared responsibility in creating safer communities.

He called on residents and stakeholders to support community policing initiatives through responsible information sharing, cooperation with security agencies and efforts to build stronger relationships between citizens and law enforcement personnel.

Aare Adetola Emmanuelking also praised the Inspector-General of Police for promoting community policing across Nigeria and commended CP Olubode Ojajuni for his commitment to engaging directly with community stakeholders in Ogun State.

The summit provided an opportunity for traditional leaders, community representatives and security professionals to exchange views with the Ogun State Police Commissioner on crime prevention strategies, intelligence gathering and measures to improve confidence in security institutions.

Participants highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force, PCRC, traditional institutions, other security agencies and local communities in responding effectively to evolving security threats.

The discussions concluded with a renewed commitment to deepen partnerships, improve information exchange and support initiatives that promote peace and stability across Ogun State and Nigeria.
