Abuja Youth Talent Hunt by AICL offers ₦6m prizes, mentorship, and training to empower young entrepreneurs in IT, agriculture, and creative enterprise

Abuja Youth Talent Hunt has officially launched as the Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young Nigerians with practical skills, mentorship, and resources to build sustainable businesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Wednesday, AICL’s Group Managing Director, Ambassador Dr. Maureen Tamuno, emphasized that the initiative aims to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship rather than provide handouts.

Running from August 20 to September 24, 2025, the maiden edition of the programme offers over ₦6 million in cash prizes, alongside mentorship, training, and investment opportunities. It is jointly organised by AICL and the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA).

Dr. Tamuno noted that the Talent Hunt focuses on Information Technology, Agriculture, and Creative Enterprise.

Participants will receive training in business plan development, pitching skills, and one-on-one mentorship from seasoned investors and industry leaders. Finalists will present their ideas at the Abuja Business Investment Expo in October 2025.

“This is not just about competition, but about opportunity to showcase ideas that can be transformed into impactful businesses,” she said. “At AICL, we don’t just give the fish; we teach people how to fish.”

She also praised FCT Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his support, describing his leadership as a driving force behind efforts to promote entrepreneurship and MSME growth in the capital.

Acting MD/CEO of AEA, Dr. Chudi Ugwuada-Ezirigwe, described the programme as a timely solution to youth unemployment and underemployment.

“Beyond prize money, the Talent Hunt will link young entrepreneurs with networks and resources needed to scale their innovations,” he said.

The event also featured the inauguration of the competition’s judging panel and an interactive Q\&A session with participants.
