Emmanuel Adebayor says Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare is struggling with confidence after missing a penalty in Premier League loss to Crystal Palace

Emmanuel Adebayor has criticised Tolu Arokodare, suggesting that the Nigerian forward is currently lacking confidence following a missed penalty in Wolves’ 1-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Late in the first half, Arokodare had a chance to equalise but sent a weak shot towards the bottom right corner, which was easily saved by goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Adebayor expressed his disappointment during comments on Premier League Productions.

“When you find yourself in front of the defender, it’s either he fouls you or leaves you to finish the ball,” Adebayor said. “Tolu shows a lack of confidence and doesn’t know what he is doing. You cannot take a penalty like that in this kind of game.”

The Wolves striker has been under scrutiny in recent weeks, and Adebayor’s critique adds to mounting pressure for the 25-year-old to improve his composure and decision-making in front of goal.
