Ademola Lookman becomes the first player since 2019 to score in his UEFA Champions League debut for Atletico Madrid, netting in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Club Brugge

Atletico Madrid forward Ademola Lookman created history on Wednesday after scoring in his side’s 3-3 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg draw against Club Brugge.

According to OptaJose, Lookman is the first player to score in his Champions League debut for Atletico Madrid since Héctor Herrera against Juventus in September 2019.

He is also the first to achieve this feat as a starter since Ángel Correa against Benfica in September 2015.

The 28-year-old Nigerian has impressed since joining Atletico Madrid from Atalanta in January, scoring three goals for Diego Simeone’s side so far.

Lookman now aims to continue his form as Atletico Madrid prepare for their next LaLiga fixture against Espanyol this weekend.
