After six successful editions, Adron Homes & Properties continues to play a pivotal role in the development of sports and talent discovery in Nigeria through its annual sporting event, the Adron Games. What began as a corporate wellness initiative has now grown into one of the nation’s premier platforms for identifying and nurturing young talents, while promoting physical fitness and community engagement.
The 2024 edition, themed “Fit to Be the Biggest”, marks the 7th consecutive year of Adron Games, further cementing the company’s commitment to the sponsorship of grassroots sports. With each edition, Adron Homes not only creates a space for corporate teams and individuals to compete but also paves the way for the next generation of athletes to shine on a national stage.
This year’s event, set to take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan from November 29th to 30th, brings even more opportunities for young athletes to showcase their abilities across a wide variety of sporting disciplines, including Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Table Tennis, Snooker, Shot Put, Long Jump, E-sports, and Tug of War. With two Nigeria’s Ex International, Daniel Amokachi and Mutiu Adepoju both legendary figures in Nigerian football serving as ambassadors, the games underscore the crucial role of sports in shaping lives and fostering unity.
Daniel Amokachi, while addressing the media at the event’s unveiling, emphasized the need for consistent support from businesses and brands to nurture talent in Nigeria. “Sports in Nigeria need more support from businesses and brands to help discover and nurture young talent. Through initiatives like the Adron Games, we’re able to uncover the next generation of stars while also promoting a healthy lifestyle,” said Amokachi.
In line with Adron Homes’ strategic goals, Emmanuel Oladapo, Director of Sport Adron Homes and the Organising Department, shed light on the innovative developments and strategies being brought to this year’s games. During his speech, Oladapo emphasized the importance of preparation and structure in making this year’s Adron Games the most successful yet.
“We’re focused on ensuring that every aspect of this year’s games is elevated. From athlete development to team preparation, my team and I are introducing new strategies that will provide a more competitive and organized experience for all participants. We want to make sure the games grow bigger each year while also ensuring that they remain an important platform for talent discovery,” Oladapo stated.
He further highlighted a series of pre-event activities leading up to November, which have been designed to ensure that teams are fully prepared for the competition. These preparatory events, which include team training sessions, practice tournaments, and fitness camps, will help refine skills and foster teamwork among the athletes. “We want the teams to have ample opportunity to train, strategize, and perfect their game before the main event in November,” Oladapo explained.
As part of the unveiling, Oladapo also showcased the official team jerseys, which were presented to the respective teams. The jerseys, designed to promote team spirit and a sense of unity, reflect the vibrant and competitive nature of Adron Games. “These jerseys represent more than just clothing; they symbolize the hard work, dedication, and passion that each team will bring to the field. We’re proud to have created a look that inspires pride and excellence,” he added.
By investing in sports sponsorship, Adron Homes not only encourages a culture of fitness and wellness but also contributes to the larger goal of empowering youth and developing Nigeria’s sports industry. The company’s Group Managing Director, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, has been at the forefront of these efforts, recognizing the transformative power of sports as a tool for positive change.
Mutiu Adepoju, speaking at the media briefing, echoed this sentiment, stressing the unifying power of sports and commending Adron Homes for their ongoing dedication to its promotion. “Sports is not only about fitness but also about unity and creating opportunities for the youth. Adron Homes’ commitment to this cause is invaluable in the continued development of sports in Nigeria,” Adepoju remarked.
As Adron Games 2024 approaches, the spotlight is once again on sports as a catalyst for talent discovery and community development, with Adron Homes & Properties leading the charge.

Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika’s impressive form has seen his market value soar to €20m, attracting interest from top European clubs like Bayern Munich and Manchester City

Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has seen a significant increase in his market value, now standing at €20m according to football transfer website Transfermarkt’s latest valuation for 2025.

This represents a €4m rise from his €16m valuation in late 2024, reflecting the 23-year-old’s stellar performances for Belgian side Club Brugge this season.

Onyedika’s impressive displays have not gone unnoticed, with several prominent European clubs reportedly monitoring him closely ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Former Genk and Gent head coach, Hein Vanhaezebrouck, recently suggested that Club Brugge will likely face a battle to retain the highly-rated midfielder beyond the current season, acknowledging his exceptional qualities and the widespread attention he has garnered across Europe.

Club Brugge reportedly valued Onyedika at €20m last summer, but his continued strong performances and increased market valuation suggest they may demand an even higher fee when the transfer window reopens.

The dynamic midfielder has emerged as a highly sought-after talent in European football, with giants such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City all credited with an interest in his services.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester City are particularly keen on acquiring Onyedika as potential cover and competition for their key midfielder Rodri, who has faced injury concerns.

The Nigerian international reportedly impressed City scouts with his standout performance against them in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored the opening goal in a thrilling encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

Onyedika’s rise to prominence is a testament to his journey from humble beginnings in Onitsha, Nigeria, where he revealed his family faced significant financial hardship.

He was spotted by the Ebedei academy, which has strong links with Danish club Midtjylland, providing him with his initial pathway into European football.

Following a loan spell at Fredericia in the Danish second division, he returned to Midtjylland before choosing Club Brugge over reported interest from AC Milan to further his development.

This season, the Super Eagles midfielder has contributed two goals and two assists in 45 appearances across all competitions and has been a key figure in Club Brugge’s impressive 20-game unbeaten run.

With over two years remaining on his current contract, Onyedika’s increasing market value and consistent performances indicate that Club Brugge could command a substantial transfer fee should they decide to sell their midfield linchpin this summer.

Erling Haaland out for up to seven weeks with ankle injury, Pep Guardiola Confirms

Erling Haaland will miss up to seven weeks after injuring his ankle, leaving Manchester City to adjust as they chase Champions League qualification

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury during his side’s 2-1 FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Bournemouth on Sunday.

Haaland, who had just scored his 30th goal of the season, was forced off the pitch in the 70th minute, leaving Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola with a major injury concern.

Guardiola confirmed on Tuesday that Haaland, 24, will be unavailable for up to seven weeks, ruling the prolific forward out of much of the remaining Premier League campaign.

Despite this setback, City remain hopeful that Haaland will return in time for the FIFA Club World Cup later this summer.

“The doctors told me between five and seven weeks,” Guardiola said ahead of City’s Premier League match against struggling Leicester on Wednesday. “So hopefully, for the end of the season and the FIFA Club World Cup, he will be ready.”

Haaland’s absence comes as a significant blow to Manchester City, who have already been dealing with a series of injuries this season.

The absence of midfielder Rodri for a substantial portion of the campaign has also left Guardiola with fewer options in the squad, forcing the team to adapt as they continue their pursuit of a Champions League spot.

Guardiola acknowledged that the team lacks another player with Haaland’s attributes, particularly his clinical finishing and physical presence in the box.

However, he remains optimistic that the rest of the squad can adjust to life without the Norwegian striker, stressing the importance of adapting to different playing styles.

“We need players with other qualities, and we have to bring more players close to the box,” Guardiola explained.

Haaland’s injury is expected to rule him out of most of City’s remaining Premier League fixtures, with the final game of the season scheduled for May 25 against Fulham.

The FA Cup final, which takes place on May 17, is likely to fall outside of the striker’s recovery window. His injury also raises concerns about his fitness for Manchester City’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in June, with their first match set for June 18.

Despite the challenges, Guardiola remains confident that City can secure a Champions League spot, even though they are currently in fifth place in the Premier League standings.

“We had in the past much tougher than this one,” Guardiola said, referencing previous seasons when City were in intense competition for the Premier League title.

“This is the first time, along with the first season I was here nine years ago, that we have to fight to qualify for the Champions League.”

With nine Premier League games remaining and an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest in April, Manchester City will need to adjust their tactics and rely on the remaining squad members to fill the void left by Haaland’s absence.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle aims to win every game as his team prepares to face Zimbabwe, following their 1-0 victory over Rwanda

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has made it clear that his primary goal is to win every game during his tenure.

After securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Amavubi of Rwanda last Friday, the Malian coach is focused on keeping the momentum going as Nigeria prepares to host the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday.

Chelle, who is just starting his reign with the Nigerian national team, spoke at a press conference ahead of the match, expressing his desire to build on the positive result against Rwanda.

“I talked to my players and I told them I want to win every game, so I’m focused on the next game, which is against Zimbabwe,” the 47-year-old coach said.

While looking ahead to the upcoming match, Chelle emphasized that his current focus is entirely on the Zimbabwe game, acknowledging its significance for the team.

“But now I just want to talk about the Zimbabwe game, which is the most important for my team,” he added.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to continue their winning ways under Chelle’s leadership as they look to secure another important victory in their campaign.

With a determined coach and a squad eager to perform, Nigeria will be eyeing three points against Zimbabwe in what promises to be an exciting clash.
