Super Eagles forward and Sevilla striker Akor Adams has named his choice for the best player in LaLiga this season, highlighting Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal as the standout performer in Spain’s top flight.
Adams, who has enjoyed a strong campaign with Sevilla, made the remarks during an interview in which he discussed the league’s top talents and his experiences facing elite opposition.
The Nigerian international, who has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 26 LaLiga appearances, said his assessment is shaped by weekly exposure to high-level competition in Spain.
When asked to identify the toughest opponent or best player in the league, Adams admitted the question was difficult, noting that he often focuses more on his own performance than individual opponents.
He, however, acknowledged the growing reputation of Yamal, describing the Barcelona star as the most outstanding player in the league despite not having faced him directly.
“I haven’t played against Lamine, so I wouldn’t say Lamine. Obviously, we know he’s the best player in the league,” Adams said.
The Sevilla forward’s comments add to increasing praise for the 18-year-old Barcelona winger, who has enjoyed a sensational season with 15 goals and 11 assists in 27 league appearances.
Yamal’s performances have positioned him as a leading contender for LaLiga Player of the Season, with Barcelona closing in on another league title.
Adams also noted that he had not faced other top stars such as Kylian Mbappé or Vinícius Júnior in direct encounters this season, limiting his comparisons to players he has competed against on the pitch.
His remarks reflect growing admiration for Yamal’s rapid rise and influence in European football, with many observers tipping the youngster for a defining career at the highest level.
