The Anambra Police held a one-hour meeting with the organisers on Monday, 9 March 2026, to discuss concerns raised by residents over frequent power outages and disputed electricity bills.

The meeting was attended by senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Ibrahim Ezekiel.

Ezekiel acknowledged the grievances of electricity consumers but stressed that protests should not disrupt public order.

He advised stakeholders to pursue institutional channels and dialogue with the relevant regulatory and distribution authorities instead of resorting to street demonstrations.

“The Command emphasised the importance of peaceful and lawful channels in addressing grievances and encouraged stakeholders to pursue institutional means of resolving the issues affecting residents,” the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement.

The Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order while facilitating constructive engagement between citizens and authorities responsible for electricity regulation.
