The incident reportedly occurred on December 19, following a confrontation between Chisom and his yet-to-be-identified cousin.

According to a post seen on an anti-cultism advocacy platform, Confra Naija, Chisom had earlier lent his cousin a phone charger.

When he later went to retrieve it, a disagreement ensued that degenerated into a violent scuffle.

During the altercation, the cousin allegedly stabbed Chisom multiple times.

The platform further claimed that the suspect’s father, who is Chisom’s uncle, joined in the attack, leading to Chisom’s death.

“In Ihiala, an Aye identified as Chisom was killed by his non-cultist cousin over a dispute involving a phone charger,” the platform stated.

It added that both the cousin and the uncle were later arrested, while angry youths in the community allegedly set the uncle’s house on fire.

A video seen by our correspondent showed the body of the deceased lying on a hospital bed as relatives wailed over his death.

Efforts to get a reaction from the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone line went unanswered and a text message sent had not been replied to at the time of filing this report.

Disputes among family members in parts of the state have often escalated into fatal violence, including disagreements over land, money and other personal matters.
