Ardova Plc and APM Terminals partner in Lagos to improve port efficiency with smart lubrication systems and stronger operational reliability
Ardova Plc has entered a strategic partnership with APM Terminals Apapa aimed at improving maintenance efficiency and lubricant management across Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure.
The collaboration was announced in a statement on Tuesday, with Ardova Plc describing the initiative as a key step toward strengthening operational reliability at one of West Africa’s busiest port facilities.
The Apapa terminal, recognised as the largest container terminal in West Africa, plays a critical role in Nigeria’s trade flow, handling a significant volume of imports and exports essential to the national economy.
At the centre of the Ardova APM Terminals partnership is the deployment of the Modern Pulse Central Lubrication Dispensing System, developed in collaboration with Shell.
The automated system replaces manual lubricant handling with a closed loop digital network designed for precision and efficiency.
The technology enables real time monitoring of lubricant usage and ensures accurate distribution across heavy duty port equipment, including cranes and reach stackers used in daily terminal operations.
According to the companies, the system is already delivering measurable improvements, including reduced product losses, enhanced safety standards in workshops, and faster equipment servicing turnaround times.
The transition to automated dispensing is also expected to strengthen inventory control and minimise human error, particularly in an environment that operates round the clock.
The joint statement noted that the initiative reflects a broader shift toward smart port operations, combining global technical expertise with local distribution capacity to improve efficiency and reduce operational downtime.
Key stakeholders from Shell, APM Terminals and Ardova Plc were present at the deployment engagement, highlighting cross industry collaboration in executing the project.
