Arsène Wenger, the legendary former Arsenal manager, has expressed strong confidence that his former club will defeat Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final, saying he would “bet” on the Gunners to lift the trophy.

The comments come as Arsenal prepare for a historic final this weekend, with Mikel Arteta’s side aiming to win the competition for the first time in the club’s history.

Wenger, who led Arsenal to the 2006 Champions League final, reflected on that near-miss, describing the team as being “13 minutes away” from glory in Paris.

Speaking to the UK Mirror, the former Arsenal manager expressed his desire to see the club finally secure European success at the Emirates era.

“I want this trophy to go to the Emirates because it’s missing there,” Wenger said.

“We touched it before — we were thirteen minutes away from winning it — so you want it to happen this time,” he added.

Wenger described the final as evenly balanced but insisted his belief in Arsenal remains strong ahead of the showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.

“Overall, I believe this is a stage where we can grab it. I still believe it’s fifty-fifty in the final, and if I had to bet, I would bet on Arsenal more than on Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
