Arteta Nigerian Youngsters Arsenal Training Promotion as Mikel Arteta includes three Nigerian academy players in first-team preparations

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta on Monday in London Colney, United Kingdom, promoted three Nigerian academy players to first-team training as preparations intensified ahead of the club’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Sporting CP in Lisbon on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta integrated forward Andre Harriman-Annous, defender Josh Ogunnaike, and goalkeeper Khari Ranson into senior training sessions at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.

The decision reflects Arsenal’s continued emphasis on youth development alongside competitive readiness for European fixtures.

The Arteta Nigerian Youngsters Arsenal Training Promotion comes at a crucial stage of the season, with Arsenal seeking depth and tactical flexibility ahead of a demanding Champions League encounter.

The inclusion of the three prospects highlights the coaching staff’s willingness to expose emerging talents to high intensity environments.

According to Arsenal youth team insider Jeorge Bird, Harriman-Annous and Ranson have already been named in Champions League matchday squads earlier in the season, signalling growing trust in their abilities.

Harriman-Annous notably made his Champions League debut as a substitute in a 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague in November, marking a significant milestone in his development.

Ranson, meanwhile, has also been involved in European matchday squads, including being an unused substitute across both legs of the Round of 16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen.

Ogunnaike is yet to receive a senior call up but continues to attract attention through consistent performances at youth level.

It remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta will include any of the three Nigerian youngsters in the squad for the upcoming clash against Sporting CP.

Their involvement in first-team training, however, suggests they are firmly on the pathway toward greater opportunities within the senior setup.
