Prof. Oluwamuyiwa Favour Ayodele, a presidential hopeful under the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has resigned his membership following his exclusion from the party’s list of cleared and uncleared presidential aspirants ahead of the next election cycle.

Ayodele confirmed his resignation in a letter dated May 25, 2026, addressed to the National Chairman of the PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, expressing disappointment over what he described as a breach of trust and internal party principles.

Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PRP National Secretary, and the Osun State chapter of the party.

The former aspirant, who had declared interest in contesting the presidency under the PRP platform, said his omission from both the cleared and uncleared aspirants list signified a lack of recognition by the party leadership.

“My intention was to be a permanent member and contribute meaningfully to building the party,” he wrote, adding that the development contradicted prior understandings within the party.

He further stated that he could not remain in an organisation where his participation was not formally acknowledged, describing his exit as a necessary and honourable decision.

Ayodele, who also serves as VisionAfric Global Executive Chairman, did not disclose his next political move but wished the party success in its future political activities.

The resignation adds to ongoing concerns over internal processes and transparency within political parties as Nigeria moves closer to the next general elections.
