Bandit Attacks Kill 30 in Katsina and Kwara States, Villages Razed

At least 30 people were killed on Tuesday in separate bandit attacks on rural communities in Katsina and Kwara states, with assailants burning houses and vehicles and forcing residents to flee.

In Katsina, 20 people lost their lives in Doma community, Tafoki Ward, Faskari Local Government Area. Chairman Surajo Aliyu described the attack as a deadly reprisal the worst in five months.

Security operatives were alerted but could not prevent the killings.

Victims’ bodies were evacuated for burial on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, in Kwara State, at least 10 villagers were killed when bandits attacked Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.

The attackers, reportedly operating from Borgu National Park in neighboring Niger State, fired sporadically and set several houses ablaze.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq condemned the attacks, describing them as a “cowardly expression of frustration” by terrorist cells.

He assured residents that security agencies were directed to intensify operations to prevent further incidents.

As of reporting, the Katsina and Kwara State Police Commands had not issued official statements on the attacks.
