Darren Bent has urged Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to drop captain Martin Odegaard and give Eberechi Eze a chance in the starting lineup
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has called on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to consider dropping captain Martin Odegaard from the starting lineup.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent criticised Odegaard’s recent performances, suggesting that the midfielder’s contributions have fallen short of expectations.
“Next weekend in the Premier League against Leeds United, Odegaard should sit out. Honestly, out,” Bent said.
Bent praised Eberechi Eze for his standout performance against Tottenham, arguing that the young midfielder deserves a run in the team.
After Eze was unbelievable against Tottenham, Odegaard came back in, and he was better.
I thought,
‘Okay, we are going to get the Odegaard from two years ago,’ but he has gone back to himself.
He is offering nothing. Give Eze four or five games, he added.
The comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of Arsenal’s midfield options as the team aims to maintain consistency in the Premier League.
