Brodashaggi recounts his stray bullet ordeal, revealing months of hospitalisation, emotional struggles and fears of being forgotten by fans
Nigerian skitmaker and content creator Samuel Perry, popularly known as Brodashaggi, has recounted his frightening near-death experience after being hit by a stray bullet, revealing how the incident left him hospitalised for months and uncertain about his future in entertainment.
The comedian shared details of the ordeal in a documentary released on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, describing the shooting, the challenges he faced during recovery and the emotional strain of staying away from content creation.
Brodashaggi said the incident occurred after he had finished filming and was heading home when the vehicle he was travelling in became trapped in a traffic jam.
While waiting in the hold-up, he heard a loud bang and suddenly found himself unable to hear the people around him, despite seeing them speak.
“I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when it dawned on me that a stray bullet had hit me,” he said.
The comedian’s account offered fans a glimpse into a difficult period during which his physical recovery was accompanied by uncertainty about whether he would be able to resume his career.
Brodashaggi disclosed that he spent months in hospital and struggled with feelings of helplessness as he watched other content creators continue publishing skits online.
Seeing his colleagues release new videos often left him in tears, he said, because he did not know whether he would recover sufficiently to return to the work he loved.
“I would see my colleagues post skits and burst into tears because I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do it again,” he recalled.
Beyond the immediate effects of the injury, the entertainer said he worried that his absence from social media and the wider entertainment scene could cause his audience to forget him.
“I was scared people would have forgotten me by the time I returned,” he added.
His comments highlight the emotional pressures entertainers can experience when illness or injury interrupts their careers, particularly in an industry where creators depend on regularly releasing content to maintain audience engagement.
Brodashaggi had maintained a relatively low profile since the shooting incident before indicating that he would share his account of what happened.
In the documentary, he also expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal and hinted at plans to return to content creation with new projects.
However, the account provided no further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the location of the incident or whether anyone had been arrested in connection with it.
Brodashaggi is known for his comedy skits and online entertainment content, which have earned him a substantial following in Nigeria.
His latest revelation has given fans a more personal understanding of the physical and emotional difficulties he experienced away from the spotlight.
His planned return could mark a significant step in his recovery as he seeks to reconnect with his audience and resume his creative work.
