Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on the latest episode of Rio Ferdinand Presents, Fernandes unveiled a star-studded lineup led by Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba.

In defence, Fernandes selected Pepe as his sole centre-back, edging out Raphael Varane due to their longer time together on the pitch.

Fernandes praised Pepe for helping him settle into the Portugal national team, joking about the defender’s persistent cycling updates on Instagram.

In midfield, Fernandes picked Juan Mata and Paul Pogba. Mata, Fernandes said, is one of the most technically gifted players he has ever played alongside and a perfect fit for five-a-side due to his intelligence and touch.

Pogba, he added, is the most complete midfielder he has seen in recent years, recalling the Frenchman’s dominant form during his Juventus peak.

Up front, Cristiano Ronaldo was an automatic choice, described by Fernandes as the game’s ultimate goalscorer.

The final spot went to Antonio Di Natale, the Udinese legend, praised for his loyalty, consistency, and remarkable goal-to-game ratio, even at a club often fighting relegation in Serie A.

The final five-a-side team — Pepe, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Antonio Di Natale — was selected not only for skill but also for chemistry and personal rapport.

Fernandes admitted he could have chosen many others, but prioritised a blend of friendship and footballing feel.
