Although Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals, tensions erupted on the pitch at full-time.

Several Algerian players confronted referee Issa Sy and his assistants over disputed decisions, surrounding the officiating crew in a heated standoff.

Security officials intervened to prevent the situation from escalating into physical confrontations between the two teams.

The unrest extended to the stands, where frustrated Algerian supporters reportedly attempted to breach security barriers and vandalised parts of the stadium before stewards restored order.

Additional incidents were reported in the mixed zone reserved for journalists, where some Algerian reporters allegedly verbally and physically assaulted Moroccan colleagues, raising serious safety concerns.

CAF confirmed that it is reviewing reports from match officials, security personnel, and media representatives involved in the incidents.

Disciplinary measures are expected in the coming days, a process likely to test CAF’s commitment to maintaining discipline, protecting participants, and preserving the integrity of Africa’s premier football tournament.
