Campus fellowship exploitation sparks outrage as Woli Arole slams student leaders demanding foodstuffs as first fruit offerings from fellow undergraduates

fellowship exploitation is under fire after comedian-turned-prophet, Woli Arole, condemned the practice of demanding foodstuffs from students as “first fruits.”

In a strongly-worded Instagram post on Monday, Arole expressed outrage over the trend reportedly spreading across Nigerian universities, where student leaders of fellowships are being treated like spiritual monarchs.

“I heard they are already calling you ‘Papa and Mama’ in university because you’re a fellowship leader, and you are also telling students to bring their foodstuffs as FIRST FRUIT. What nonsense,” he wrote.

The comic prophet, known for blending humour and social critique with spiritual teachings, criticised the pressure placed on young, impressionable students by their supposed spiritual guides.

What nonsense. You’re a fellowship leader, not a god—stop manipulating young students in the name of faith.

He warned that such behaviour fosters manipulation under the guise of faith.

This statement has sparked fresh debate on social media, with many users echoing Arole’s sentiments and calling for reform within campus religious fellowships.

Woli Arole’s stand against campus fellowship exploitation is part of a growing movement challenging unhealthy power dynamics in student religious groups.
