Captain Oluranti Ogoyi’s controversy has erupted online after a dramatic airport incident involving Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, at Abuja airport.
The incident unfolded when K1 De Ultimate was denied boarding on ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos for allegedly carrying alcohol in a thermoflask a violation of airline policy.
According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the singer was warned but reportedly refused to comply, spilling alcohol on a crew member during the confrontation.
A viral video showed the music icon dangerously close to the plane on the tarmac, seemingly dodging the aircraft as it prepared for takeoff a moment that raised serious safety concerns.
Following the incident, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and her co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba, were suspended pending investigations over alleged breaches of safety protocols.
Known affectionately as “Rantilicious” by friends and colleagues, Captain Ogoyi is no stranger to the aviation world.
She is the daughter of former Osun Central senator Felix Kola Ogunwale and boasts over a decade of flying experience.
Beginning her career at Arik Air, she later joined ValueJet and was promoted to full captain in a 2021 ceremony attended by aviation industry leaders, including NCAA Director General Captain Chris Najomo.
She is married to fellow pilot Isaac Ogoyi Jr., who has an impressive resume spanning Arik Air, RwandAir, and Uganda Airlines.
