Charly Boy highlights ‘uncommon relationship’ with former President Obasanjo, emphasizing mutual respect and national concern
Human rights activist and entertainer Charly Boy has revealed that he shares an uncommon relationship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, built on mutual respect, understanding, and a shared concern for Nigeria’s future.
Charly Boy made the disclosure via his official X handle, noting that many Nigerians were initially surprised by his closeness to the former head of state, given his long-standing reputation as a rebellious figure and outspoken critic of government authorities.
“People wondered how someone who constantly challenges authority could be so connected to a former head of state. But life is not always black and white.
Sometimes respect and understanding build bridges where people least expect,” he wrote.
The activist explained that Obasanjo recognized qualities in him often overlooked by others, including courage, consistency, and a commitment to truth regardless of circumstances.
In return, Charly Boy said he saw beyond Obasanjo’s military and presidential background, acknowledging him as an elder who had endured war, leadership pressures, and national challenges while remaining resilient.
Charly Boy emphasized that their relationship is not for publicity, but one of quiet understanding. Conversations between them reportedly focus on Nigeria’s pressing issues, often marked by debate and disagreement but never bitterness.
“We may argue, we may disagree, but respect is always intact,” he said.
