The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the incident was reported around 1:55 a.m. via its 767/112 toll-free lines, prompting immediate activation of the state’s emergency response plan from its Command and Control Centre in Alausa.

LASEMA’s response team arrived at 2:15 a.m. and found the building engulfed in flames, with dense smoke indicating intense combustion.

The high volume of combustible materials in the building contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

“No fatalities were recorded. One Lagos State firefighter sustained minor injuries during the operation and was administered first aid on site,” the agency said.

The entire upper floor was completely razed, destroying all goods and properties stored there, while the structure was partially compromised and requires assessment.

Firefighting operations involved a coordinated multi-agency response including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, and the Nigeria Police Force.

The fire was successfully contained, preventing damage to neighbouring buildings.
