Four Killed in Cross River Army-Gunmen Clash

Four gunmen were killed and one soldier wounded in a clash between Nigerian Army troops and unidentified attackers in Obubra, Cross River State

Troops of the 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army engaged unknown gunmen in Obubra Local Government Area, Cross River State, resulting in four attackers killed and one soldier injured.

The clash occurred as the soldiers were returning from Ochon and Alesi communities, when they were ambushed by the armed group.

Reinforcements from the 245 Battalion, Nigerian Army arrived with armoured and tactical support, helping the troops repel the attack.

Lt. Yemi Sokoya, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed that cordon-and-search operations have begun in suspected communities to track fleeing suspects and prevent further security breaches.

Brig.-Gen. Patrick Alimikhena commended the soldiers’ professionalism and assured residents of the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace in the area.
