The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has issued a strong warning against a fake, artificial intelligence-generated video circulating online that falsely features a cloned voice of its Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari.

The company stated that the video is being used to promote a fictitious poverty alleviation scheme.

Through its spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, NNPC Ltd. clarified on Thursday, May 29, 2025, that the company has no such investment initiative and urged the public to completely disregard the misleading video.

The fraudulent video was reportedly posted by a Facebook account named “Mensageiro de Cristo” and has since gained traction across various social media platforms, according to NNPC Ltd.

NNPC Ltd. has unequivocally warned the perpetrators behind this scam to cease their fraudulent actions immediately or face severe legal consequences.

The company emphasized its commitment to protecting its brand integrity and preventing the public from falling victim to such deceptive schemes.
