D’Tigress 2026 FIBA World Cup draw set for Berlin as Nigeria’s team prepares with US training tour and WNBA friendlies ahead of tournament

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will learn their group opponents for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup next Tuesday when the official draw takes place in Berlin, Germany.

D’Tigress Set for 2026 FIBA World Cup Draw will determine the group-stage fixtures for the 16 qualified teams, who will be placed into four groups based on their positions in the FIBA Women’s World Ranking.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been seeded in Pot 2 alongside basketball powerhouses China, Belgium and Spain, setting the stage for a potentially challenging group-stage assignment depending on the outcome of the draw.

Ahead of the tournament, Rena Wakama’s side has intensified preparations with a training tour in the United States, which began on Thursday as part of efforts to fine-tune tactics and build team cohesion.

As part of the tour, the African champions are scheduled to face several WNBA sides in high-profile friendly matches, including the Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever, providing valuable competitive exposure ahead of the global showpiece.

The 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is scheduled to take place from September 4 to September 13, with teams across the world expected to compete for the prestigious title.
