Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has called on residents to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu their “unflinching support” in the 2027 general elections, declaring that the President has taken Edo as his home.

Speaking during the APC senatorial by-election campaign rally at Ugboha Ward 10 in Esan South East LGA, Okpebholo urged Edo Central to reward Tinubu’s strong backing for the state with massive votes.

“President Tinubu has shown us love, and we must support him in return. Remember we promised him 2.5 million votes. The August 16th senatorial by-election is a test,” the governor said.

The rally, attended by several APC leaders, also saw the reception of new defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—a development Okpebholo described as proof of the party’s growing popularity.

Highlighting Tinubu’s contribution to ongoing infrastructural projects in Edo, the governor promised more development, including the fast-tracked construction of roads linking Ugboha to Ubiaja and Anegbete, and the revival of the Ugboha water scheme.

“When I came for my campaign, you told me to revive the water scheme—today, it’s done. Now, I’m promising to complete these critical roads before the election,” he pledged.
