The EFCC arrests Iziga Jude Ikechukwu in Enugu for alleged abuse of naira notes during a birthday party, recovering N81,700. Investigation ongoing
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a 24-year-old palm kernel dealer, Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, over the alleged abuse of naira notes during his birthday celebration in Enugu.
The EFCC disclosed the arrest in a statement following a viral video showing Ikechukwu, also known as “Easy-Money,” allegedly mishandling naira notes in a hotel room.
“The suspect was seen recording himself while abusing naira notes in his hotel room during his birthday celebration,” the EFCC said.
The agency noted that the act violates Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007, which prohibits the abuse of Nigerian currency.
After receiving intelligence, the EFCC traced the suspect to his residence around Timber Market in Enugu-Ezike, Enugu State, and arrested him on February 28, 2026.
A total of N81,700, believed to be part of the money abused in the video, was recovered from him.
The Commission added that Ikechukwu will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
