The EFCC urges stronger collaboration with the Taraba State Judiciary to combat financial crimes, enhance transparency, and restore public confidence in governance across the state

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has emphasised the need for closer cooperation with the Taraba State Judiciary to tackle financial crimes and corruption in the state.

Acting Zonal Director of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate, Effa Okim, made the statement during a courtesy visit to Taraba State Chief Judge, Justice Joel Agya, in Jalingo.

Okim stressed that collaboration between the EFCC and the judiciary is crucial for removing financial criminals from the system and restoring public confidence in governance.

“Synergy between the EFCC and the judiciary can help restore the value of our nation state. The way and manner people take away monies meant for development with impunity is worrisome,” Okim said.

He noted that diversion of public funds for personal or political interests denies citizens access to essential resources.

Justice Agya lauded the EFCC as a vital institution within Nigeria’s accountability framework, highlighting the judiciary’s role in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding public institutions.

He affirmed the courts’ commitment to continued collaboration with the EFCC through information sharing, capacity building, and strict adherence to due process.

Both officials agreed that strengthened ties between the EFCC and the Taraba State Judiciary would advance justice, enhance transparency, and ensure more effective prosecution of financial crimes in the state.
