As Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitri to mark the successful end of one month of fast during the holy month of Ramadan, Giwa Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Kuye), Giwa Alhaji Suraju Lasisi have sent goodwill message to the members of the Egbe and to the entire Muslim ummah to commemorate the day.
Giwa Alhaji Suraju Lasisi has asked the Muslim faithful to emulate the virtues of Prophet Mohammed as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr. He used the occasion to call on all Muslims to put into practice lessons learnt during the Ramadan period and to love and share with the less privileged in the society as exemplified by Prophet Mohammed.
Azury has fondly called, in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Egbe, Yori Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo, in Ijebu Ode on Saturday enjoined the Muslim faithful to use the period to offer prayers for peace, unity, prosperity, and healing the land of the COVID-19 global pandemic, and also offer prayer for rapid development at all levels of governance in the country.
The statement read, “In recent days, as COVID-19 has been declared a global pandemic and countries have taken urgent measures to stem the spread of infection, I wish to say that my first impulse has been to pray for the quick healing of the pandemic from our land. However, It’s probably more honest to say that, Allah is protecting those who abide by their obligations.
On many occasions, the Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w) advised his companions to value their lives as the utmost importance over death in his numerous sayings (hadiths), urging people to stay away from places where there were epidemics.
He added: “Muslim faithful should adhere to the federal government’s established protocols on social distancing, wearing masks and handwashing in order to stay safe.
