Ekiti State launches digital health initiative to integrate electronic medical records and improve healthcare access and service delivery across the state

The Ekiti State Government has unveiled plans to advance the digitalisation of healthcare services to improve service delivery and strengthen the state’s health system.

Dr Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and Human Services, disclosed the plan in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of a 35-member Technical Working Group on Digital Health.

“The initiative is aimed at aligning the state with Nigeria’s national digital health architecture and improving access to quality healthcare for residents,” Filani said.

The digitalisation drive will integrate electronic medical records, health registries, and data exchange platforms, enabling healthcare providers to securely access patients’ medical information when needed.

Some facilities in the state already operate electronic systems, and this move will further strengthen data management and support evidence-based decision-making.
