The management of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has approved the promotion of 208 members of staff, reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare, career progression and professional development.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Foyeke Ibimilua, during a meeting with members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of the university on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Ibimilua represented the Vice-Chancellor, Babatunde Omojola, at the engagement, which followed a peaceful march by NASU members to the Wole Olanipekun Senate Building.

The workers had used the march to draw management’s attention to outstanding entitlements and other welfare-related concerns.

According to a statement signed by the university’s spokesperson, Temitope Akinbisoye, Ibimilua acknowledged the issues raised by the union and assured members that management remained committed to addressing them.

She said the university was making efforts to resolve the concerns within its administrative and financial capacity, while emphasising the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in maintaining a peaceful working environment.

“Management is making concerted efforts to address the issues within the administrative and financial capacity of the institution,” she said.

The deputy vice-chancellor added that the institution would continue to promote constructive engagement with staff unions, describing mutual respect and consultation as essential to sustaining industrial harmony.

She also acknowledged the contributions of non-academic workers to the university’s growth, stability and pursuit of academic excellence.

Highlighting management’s efforts to improve staff welfare, Ibimilua disclosed that the institution had recently approved the promotion of 208 workers, describing the decision as evidence of its commitment to career advancement and professional development.

“The university management recently approved the promotion of 208 members of staff. This reinforces management’s commitment to staff welfare, career progression and professional development,” she said.

She further assured the workers that their concerns remained a priority and pledged continued engagement with recognised unions to resolve outstanding issues and preserve the cordial relationship between management and staff.

Earlier, NASU Chairman, Ayotunde Ojo, appealed to the university management to accelerate the payment of outstanding staff entitlements.

Ojo stressed that prompt attention to the union’s demands was necessary to prevent a possible industrial crisis, underscoring the need for practical action alongside assurances from management.

The engagement comes as the university seeks to maintain uninterrupted academic and administrative activities through dialogue with its workforce.
