A major political development unfolded in Abuja on Tuesday,28 April, 2026 as Rt. Hon. James Faleke and Rasak Ajala picked the All Progressives Congress nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 elections.

The exercise, which took place in the Federal Capital Territory, saw Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, collect the presidential form on behalf of Tinubu and the governorship form for Hamzat, popularly known as KOH.

The move has since triggered fresh political conversations within the ruling party, particularly in Lagos.
Party sources said the collection of the forms signals the formal commencement of strategic positioning ahead of the forthcoming presidential and Lagos governorship contests.

Meanwhile, Hamzat’s inclusion in the governorship race has heightened speculation over the succession battle in Lagos, where political stakeholders are already weighing possible contenders for the state’s top seat.

Observers noted that the involvement of Faleke and Ajala, both influential figures within Lagos politics, reflects coordinated backing from key party blocs and growing momentum around Hamzat’s expected ambition.

Hamzat, who currently serves as deputy governor, is widely regarded as an experienced technocrat and one of the most visible figures in the state administration.

Furthermore, supporters of the deputy governor described the development as a defining moment, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity and track record in public service.

The slogan, “KOH2027: Ìṣẹ̀ Ọlúwá ni o,” also surfaced alongside the announcement, further fuelling speculation that an organised political structure may already be taking shape.

Although neither Tinubu nor Hamzat had issued an official statement at the time of filing this report, political watchers expect clearer declarations and intensified consultations in the coming weeks.
