Gbenga Daniel tribute to Stella Obasanjo has stirred warm reflections across Nigeria as the nation marks the 20th memorial anniversary of the late former First Lady, celebrated for her dignity, compassion, and devotion to public service.

In an emotional letter addressed to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel described the late Mrs Obasanjo as “a woman of rare grace, courage, and devotion” whose memory continues to inspire Nigerians two decades after her passing.

The letter, dated October 20, 2025, and titled “Forever in Our Hearts”, was personally signed by Daniel, who now serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy and was a former Governor of Ogun State.

“Her life remains a shining example of purposeful service and enduring love, both to the Obasanjo family and to our great nation,” Daniel wrote, expressing admiration for her quiet strength and unwavering humanity.

He praised Stella Obasanjo’s humanitarian legacy, highlighting her passion for women’s rights, child welfare, and social development, which left a lasting imprint on communities across Nigeria.

“She embodied dignity in leadership and kindness in humanity — qualities that continue to inspire generations of Nigerian women and men alike,” he said.

Daniel also extended heartfelt solidarity to the former President, acknowledging the “enduring void” left by the passing of his late wife.

“May this 20th memorial bring renewed strength, peace, and gratitude for a life beautifully lived and forever remembered,” he added.

Chief (Mrs.) Stella Obasanjo, who served as Nigeria’s First Lady between 1999 and 2005, remains revered for her elegance, compassion, and advocacy for social causes that advanced the rights and welfare of women and children.

Two decades after her passing, her legacy endures through the initiatives she inspired and the values she exemplified  dignity, humility, and service to humanity  a legacy that continues to echo through Nigeria’s collective memory.
