Getafe beats Real Madrid 1-0 at Bernabéu, courtesy of Martín Satriano, stalling Madrid’s La Liga title challenge in a tense showdown

Getafe CF stunned Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, claiming a 1–0 victory that severely dented the hosts’ La Liga title ambitions.

The lone goal came in the 39th minute when Martín Satriano capitalised on space inside the area, firing a first-time strike into the top-right corner, silencing the 65,104 spectators in attendance.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities, Madrid struggled to break down Getafe’s disciplined defence.

Vinícius Júnior, Gonzalo García, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Aurélien Tchouaméni tested goalkeeper David Soria, who produced a series of composed stops to preserve his side’s advantage.

Rodrygo, introduced in the second half, came closest to an equaliser with a header that drifted just wide, while Franco Mastantuono’s late attempt was blocked in stoppage time.

The match escalated into a tense affair as multiple bookings were issued, including Vinícius Júnior and Tchouaméni for Madrid.

Mastantuono was eventually sent off deep into added time, while Getafe were also reduced to ten men following Adrián Liso’s second yellow card.

The result leaves Madrid trailing league leaders Barcelona and facing mounting pressure as the season approaches its decisive stages.
