GFF free medical screening reaches residents of Redemption City and Simawa ahead of free surgical interventions scheduled for October 2026
The Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, conducted a free medical screening and clinical assessment exercise for residents of The Redemption City, Simawa and surrounding communities in Ogun State.
The exercise, held simultaneously at The Redemption City and Simawa, served as a prelude to the Foundation’s free surgical intervention programme scheduled to take place from 9 to 24 October 2026 at the Redeemers Health Village, The Redemption City.
The GFF free medical screening was designed to identify residents requiring surgical procedures and specialised medical care, with beneficiaries undergoing clinical assessments by medical personnel deployed for the exercise.
The programme covered a broad range of medical conditions and specialties, including eye-related cases such as cataracts and pterygium, dental conditions, simple tumours, lipomas, ganglion and hernias affecting both men and women.
Other areas assessed included gynaecological conditions, fibroids, vesicovaginal fistula, Caesarean section-related cases, prostate conditions, orthopaedic cases, bone fractures, dislocations, amputations, diabetes and gastroenterology.
To improve accessibility and accommodate residents from different communities, the screening was conducted at two venues.
The first venue was Pillar 17Q, Old Auditorium, The Redemption City, where the exercise ran from 10am to 2pm.
The second venue was the Akogun Olusegun Okeowo Compound, opposite the market in Simawa, where medical activities continued from 11am to 4pm.
The exercise was led by Dr Bankole Osisanya, supported by three separate teams of medical personnel who attended to residents at both locations.
The leadership of the Gateway Front Foundation monitored the exercise throughout the day to support effective coordination and ensure a smooth clinical process.
Among those present were Arch. Abiodun Adesanya, popularly known as Kajiko, the GFF Administrative Officer, and Aare Kolade Segun-Okeowo, GFF Manager for Sagamu Local Government Area.
The officials coordinated the exercise, mobilised residents and worked with the medical teams to ensure that beneficiaries moved through the screening process efficiently.
The turnout was significant, with residents of The Redemption City, Simawa and neighbouring communities arriving at both venues to access the free medical services.
The programme was sponsored by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as part of efforts to bring quality healthcare services closer to communities at the grassroots.
Medical personnel conducted clinical assessments to determine beneficiaries requiring surgery and other forms of specialised intervention.
Several cases were identified and selected for various surgical procedures and medical interventions following the assessments.
The selected beneficiaries have been documented and scheduled to proceed to the next phase of the programme at the Redeemers Health Village, where the planned interventions will take place between 9 and 24 October.
The exercise was conducted peacefully and concluded successfully, according to the Gateway Front Foundation.
Residents who participated in the programme expressed appreciation to the Foundation and Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel for providing access to free medical screening and bringing healthcare services closer to people in the communities.
The Gateway Front Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare access and supporting the health and wellbeing of residents across Ogun East and Ogun State.
The Foundation said the screening represented an important first step towards the forthcoming surgical intervention programme, which is expected to provide further medical support to beneficiaries identified during the assessment.
