Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has defected from PDP to APC, citing President Tinubu and development alignment as reasons
Umo Eno dumps PDP for APC in a political shake-up that sees the Akwa Ibom Governor move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eno announced his decision on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its past support while describing the switch as a “progressive step forward.”
He said the move followed wide consultations and was inspired by his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and a strong desire to align Akwa Ibom with the Federal Government to drive sustainable development.
“This decision wasn’t made lightly,” the governor said. “I consulted widely and chose the APC to ensure Akwa Ibom maximises the benefits of cooperation with the Federal Government.”
Governor Eno reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Akwa Ibom, stating that service to the state remains his priority, regardless of political affiliation.
“My loyalty is to Akwa Ibom. Party lines should never be a barrier to good governance,” he declared.
