Police in Oyo State have arrested six suspected armed robbers in Ibadan after a hotel raid, recovering phones, ID cards and a tricycle

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers in Ibadan, following an intelligence-led operation.

The Ibadan armed robbery suspects arrested were picked up at a hotel located in the 7UP/Academy area of the state capital.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to him, the operation was carried out after credible information was received from members of the public.

He said operatives stormed the location in a coordinated raid, leading to the arrest of six suspects believed to be part of a robbery syndicate.

The suspects were identified as Kelvin Daniel, Idris Ramon, Christopher Solomon, Mohamed Telim, Taored Aderibigbe, and Adekunle Tolani.

Ayanlade added that several items were recovered from the suspects during the operation, including 18 mobile phones, an Opay ATM card, a National Identification Number (NIN) card, and a tricycle.

The tricycle, with registration number OYO SHK 508 QP, was reportedly used as the operational vehicle of the suspected gang.

He further stated that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the process.

The police command reassured residents of its commitment to tackling crime and maintaining security across the state.
