ICPC arrests former NIMASA Director-General Bashir Jamoh in Kaduna over alleged corruption, transferring him to Abuja; family raises rights concerns
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reportedly arrested Bashir Jamoh, former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), in Kaduna State.
TVC reports that Jamoh was intercepted by ICPC operatives while returning from a court engagement. Sources said he was first taken to his residence for a search before being moved to Abuja.
The family stated that since the arrest, Jamoh has been held incommunicado, without access to legal counsel or relatives, raising concerns over his safety and alleged violation of fundamental human rights.
Details of the court matter he had attended were not disclosed, and as of now, the ICPC has not issued an official statement regarding the arrest or the allegations.
This development comes amid ongoing anti-corruption efforts by the ICPC and other regulatory bodies in Nigeria.
