Rep Obi Aguocha declares that Igbos will no longer accept second-class citizenship in Nigeria, supporting calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s release and emphasizing unity and justice
A member of the House of Representatives, Obi Aguocha, representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, has declared that the igbos will no longer accept second-class citizenship in Nigeria.
Aguocha made the statement in response to comments by Igwe Lawrence Chikezie Agubuzu, Eze Ogbunechendo of Ezema Olo Kingdom in Enugu State, who called on President Bola Tinubu to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and return him to Kenya or the United Kingdom if his presence in Nigeria is uncomfortable for the government.
The lawmaker praised Igwe Agubuzu for speaking out courageously, emphasizing that true leadership requires standing up for justice rather than seeking comfort. Aguocha reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for Kanu’s unconditional release, calling it a constitutional and morally necessary action.
He added, “Ndi Igbo, our unity is our strength, and voices like Igwe Agubuzu’s have shown the world that we are not accepting second-class citizenship anymore. Together, nothing can stop us.”
Aguocha’s remarks highlight growing calls for equity, fairness, and recognition of Igbos as equal citizens under the law, marking a renewed push for political advocacy and regional unity.
