2023 Election: Nigerian Youths Are Not Ready For Politics — Eedris Abdulkareem-Crystal News

Despite growing evidence of youth activism and mobilization, veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem says Nigerian youths are not ready for politics.

The controversial rapper stated this during an interview with Daily Post. He further took a swipe on Nigerian leaders, emhasized that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is part of the problem of Nigeria.

Speaking on Nigerian youths pertaking in the 2023 election, Eedris claimed that Nigerian youths are not ready for politics because they are busy watching Big Brother Naija and playing ‘kalukalu’.

”They should get their PVC even though their votes would not count.”

The ‘Jaga Jaga’ crooner also accused Nigerian entertainers of focusing on irrelevant things and not using their music to enlighten the public.

”The young entertainers are busy singing about booty, drugs and alcohol when they are supposed to use their music to bring and enlighten people. I’m sure if the young guys in music are agitating like we are, things would have changed.”

When asked about his relationship with Obasanjo, Eedris said, “Obasanjo will never be my friend, I worked with him because there was this tsunami in America and we were part of the fundraising program sponsored to raise money for Nigerians out there.

”Obasanjo is part of the problem of this country. When he was in prison, he promised to do a lot of things if he became the President, but he never did. It is really sad, but we can never be friends because he’s part of the problem of this country.

”Our leaders, before getting into office might have the intention to do good things but when they get to power, they change. I don’t know if it is a curse. But Yaradua did work but his term was cut short, sadly. ”

Speaking on the President Buhari’s administration, Eedris lamented that Buhari has done nothing but to dash the hopes of Nigerians and taken Nigeria back to where it was 20 years ago.

“The APC government promised us to change, but Nigerians are in chains, they’ve made everybody become slaves. It’s a sad situation.

“Buhari just wanted to be a president and doesn’t have anything to offer. He just wanted to rule and was not prepared. He does not have what it takes to govern this country. It’s the truth, but a sad story.

“This is the worst government Nigeria has ever experienced. He took us back 20 years.”

The Jagajaga crooner said “Nigeria is in a sad situation; there’s no hope until we have a change of government and leaders who are ready to give us basic amenities.

“We have a President that does not believe in the youths. He once said Nigerian youths are lazy. We are in deep sh*t in this country and there’s no hope as most companies have left Nigeria for Ghana,”.

Squid Game Netflix’s ‘Biggest Ever’ Series Launch

Squid Game Netflix’s ‘Biggest Ever’ Series Launch

Squid Game, a fictional drama from South Korea — is Netflix’s “biggest-ever series at launch,” the streaming company exclusively told CNN on Tuesday.

The dystopian series, in which contestants who are deeply in need of money play deadly children’s games to win cash prizes, has been viewed by 111 million accounts since debuting on Netflix on September 17.

To give that number some context, Netflix announced earlier this year that 82 million households watched “Bridgerton” in the first 28 days following its Christmas debut. “Squid Game” surpassed that number in a shorter amount of time.

The series is No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 lists in 94 countries around the world. It’s the platform’s first-ever Korean series to reach No. 1 in the United States.

Squid Game Netflix’s ‘Biggest Ever’ Series Launch

The numbers speak to the sheer size of “Squid Games’” popularity and the speed at which it took off. But Netflix’s — and all streaming services’ — rating data comes with some important caveats.

For starters, these numbers are from Netflix (NFLX) itself and have not been vetted by any outside sources. Also, that 111 million figure doesn’t mean everyone watched the series from start to finish. It is based on Netflix’s metric of accounts watching at least two minutes of the series.

Regardless of Netflix’s often opaque accounting of its shows’ popularity, the important context is that the streaming giant’s competition is growing fiercer by the day, and “Squid Game” shows Netflix remains on top for a reason, CNN reports.

For investors, as long as Netflix keeps adding subscribers, Wall Street will likely continue to be happy. “Squid Game” has hit the zeitgeist in a significant way, and buzz is the best means to attract new subscribers and keep current ones happy. The series has also earned great reviews, garnering a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Like many top streaming series, “Squid Game” has become a pop culture phenomenon. The series has generated memes and even Halloween costume ideas.

The success of “Squid Game” speaks to Netflix’s ability to craft a worldwide hit. Netflix has 209 million subscribers and the company has worked to reach audiences on a global scale.

“When we first started investing in Korean series and films in 2015, we knew we wanted to make world-class stories for the core K-content fans across Asia and the world,” said Minyoung Kim, Netflix’s Vice-President of content for Asia Pacific, excluding India.

“Today, Squid Game has broken through beyond our wildest dreams. ‘Squid Game’ gave [Netflix] more confidence that our global strategy is going in the right direction,” Kim told CNN.
