Super TV CEO Death: Chidinma Denies Killing Usifo Utaga-Crystal News

Chidinma Ojukwu (21) a student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has made a u-turn on the murder of Usifo Ataga, Super TV CEO.

Chidinma who was arrested last month had initially confessed to stabbing Ataga “twice on the neck side” while she was being paraded by the Lagos state police command.

The embattled student had alleged that the businessman had forcefully had sex with her the first time but a dispute ensued after he attempted it again.

Her words, “I threw the knife to the bed and he was going for it but I also went for it. He dragged the knife with me and it broke and he fell on the floor,” she had said.

“At some point, he was chasing me around the kitchen cabinet. I took a knife and stabbed his neck. I approached the door and he followed me. I stabbed him twice on the neck side.”

But in a recent interview with Crime Fighters, Chidinma said she admitted to killing Ataga at the time because of pressure and the fact that nobody believed her.

Chidinma also claimed that she had met the deceased in a pool of his own blood when she returned from where she had gone to get food and drugs.

She said, “I didn’t involve anybody. I don’t know who must have come into the apartment. Definitely, somebody did that but I don’t know who that person is. I don’t know what happened when I left the room to buy food. Because of what I did after by not alerting the police and also withdrawing money from his account, I feel guilty for what happened but I did not kill him,”.

“I believe someone knew where we were and waited till I left before they entered. Due to pressure and insistence of the security operatives that nobody entered the room apart from the two, I resolved that since no one believed me, let me just take the blame.”

Chidinma also noted that nobody is influencing her claim as believed in some quarters, explaining that she has not communicated with anyone from her family since her arrest.

“No one is influencing my statements. I have not spoken to anyone since my arrest, not even my relation or anybody close to me,” she added.

Chidinma also claimed that her decision to withdraw money from Ataga’s account after his death was because the deceased had promised her the amount before the unfortunate incident.

“I just withdrew the money (200, 000) because he had already promised me, it’s not like I had anything to do with his death. I don’t have anything to do with his death,” she added.

APC Congress: Lagos Will Adopt Consensus Candidate, Says GAC-Crystal News
Mr. Gboyega Famodun, the Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun, on Friday, said the party would be adopting a consensus system at the party ward congress on Saturday.
Famodun made this known at the “Osun APC  Congress Committee Stakeholders’ Meeting on Ward Congress” at the Government House in Osogbo.
The party caretaker chairman, who was welcoming the party national congress committee members, said security arrangements have also been made to ensure committee members’ safety and security throughout the congress.
In his remarks, Mr Gbenga Elegbeleye, speaking in the same vein, said that his team has received a list of members of the congress committee set up by the party in the state that they ill be working with.
Elegbeleye, however, debunked reports that he had been kidnapped in the state because of the congress, saying he and his team just got into the state and that he is safe and sound.
“The principle of consensus would apply for the congress. according to the party, and we will be very transparent in our job,” he said.
The State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, in his remarks, said consensus was adopted by the state for the congress in order to avoid rancour.
Oyetola explained that congress was a way of electing officers of the party and should not be a problem.
He, therefore, appealed to those who would be taking part in the congress to ensure a rancour-free exercise, rather than turning it into a battle

Lagos APC Group Decries Modalities For Ward Congress-Crystal News

The Lagos4Lagos Movement within the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) has decried the procedures and guidelines for Saturday’s ward congress.

The Convener of the group, Olajide Adediran , who addressed newsmen on Friday at Ikeja, alleged that the National Ward Congress Committee, headed by Mohammed Dangiyadi, was biased.

Adediran said that the national committee ought to have formed a local working electoral committee to work with, to make its work easier in the 245 wards in Lagos State.

“The congresses will hold tomorrow but till now we don’t know the electoral committee members or even the contestants. The venues are also not clear.

“The guideline said there must be forms for anyone who wants to contest, but we have not seen any single form, despite paying for same and having our payment evidence.

We even showed the chairman a list of our intending contestants across the 245 wards, to express our readiness for this congress.

“How do we hold a congress/election without knowing the members of the electoral committee and even aspirants?

“The committee chairman said he has no business with the list of contestants, but who are the aspirants you are conducting the election for if you don’t have forms with you at this time,” he said.

According to him, it is very obvious they are scared of the competition, but the group will go ahead with the ward congress on Saturday because they have paid for nomination forms into the party’s coffers to show readiness and seriousness.

He called on the group members in the 245 wards to come out on Saturday and file behind their officials to be voted for.

“When we are done, we will submit our list and payment pieces of evidence to the national office.

“We will also seek redress in the court if we are not satisfied with the congress outcome because it is our right and we are fully prepared to give all it takes to assert it,” Adediran said.

Reacting, APC Lagos Chapter  Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said that members of the party knew that forms could be obtained from the party secretariat.

Oladejo urged those who need the forms to proceed to the appropriate venue to get one.
