The Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (ABAT) Movement has officially inaugurated its Working Committees ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

The colorful celebration which was held at the Haven Event Center, Ikeja GRA was well attended by APC leaders across the State’s 57 local councils across the state.

The ABAT Movement was conceived and set up by members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos, the highest political organ in the state, for the actualization of the presidential ambition of the former Lagos Governor.

Speaking at the event, the Movement’s Director-General, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole said ABAT structure was different from other support groups set up across the country for the actualization of Tinubu’s presidential ambition.

Danmole while reeling out the group organs and structures, said that all cluster groups within the Lagos APC have representation in the movement, with the inclusion of every locality in the State.

He said that a seven-man committee had been set up in each of the 57 local councils in Lagos, with each committee headed by coordinators.

He said that at the ward level, the movement maintained similar committee structure of seven persons across the 377 wards.

He added that registration to be part of the ward committee would be made open to Lagosians in the coming days.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the best candidate to effectively manage human and material resources for visible progress of the country.

According to him,”Nigeria is the most populous black nation in the world and the responsibility that comes with that is enormous. No doubt that the destiny of the entire black race is tied to the greatness of Nigeria. If our country must be great, we have the responsibility to choose the leadership that will bring about true transformation across every facet of our national life. Who is that rallying figure that should lead us in this journey?

“The answer is deeply connected to our mission and purpose here today. That person must be a detribalised Nigerian and a bridge builder, who has been tested and trusted. A thinker who must sustain the legacy our current president is leaving behind. That person is the reason we are inaugurating this Movement for the actualisation of his presidential ambition. That person is our great leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

ABAT Movement’s chairman, Cardinal James Odumbaku, said the forthcoming general election presented another opportunity for Nigerians to make the right choice to keep the country on the path of development.

He warned that the electorate must get it right by electing a tested and credible leader to steer the leadership of the country.

He stressed that the movement believed Asiwjau Bola Tinubu remains the right man for the top seat.

An APC chieftain and member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee, Prince Tajudeen Olusi described Tinubu as “a genius” in statecraft, adding that the APC National Leader is a salable article in the political market.

According to him, ”We have to be prepared and determined, because the contest would be a battle of might and strength.”

Tinubu hails Nigerian Governors over Supreme Court ruling on CBN Naira Swap policy

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the Governors of the 36 states for standing on the side of the Nigerian people over the Central Bank new Naira and cashless policies that have subjected the masses to pains.
According to Asiwaju Tinubu, the Governors especially the APC Governors who instituted the suit against the CBN and Federal Government at the Supreme Court acted well on behalf of the hapless Nigerians who have been made to bear the brunt of Naira redesign policy that has been poorly implemented
The Supreme Court on Wednesday morning in a law suit brought before it by the governments of Zamfara, Kogi and Kaduna States gave an interim injunction against the CBN and Federal Government, allowing the old N200, N500 and N1000 to remain legal tender beyond February 10 deadline until the case is fully disposed.
Following the apex court ruling, Asiwaju Tinubu noted that the governors have saved the country from a needless political and economic crises and miseries which have clearly become the unintended consequences of the monetary policy of the apex bank.
Asiwaju Tinubu noted that the Supreme Court ruling coincided with the advisory of the International Monetary Fund urging for the extension of the deadline for the swap of the old naira notes, going by the problems being experienced across the country in getting the new notes.
“I want to salute the courage of our Governors and most especially the Progressives Governors in APC who acted to save our country from avoidable and dangerous political crises and social unrest which the Central Bank policy on new Naira notes has brought on our country.
“Our country was dangerously careering toward anarchy and political and economic shutdown. But with the Supreme Court interim ruling our country has been pulled back from the precipice. We thank our Supreme Court Justices for ruling wisely on the side of the people who have been subjected to undue agony and pains since this policy was announced.
“The Federal Government and relevant stakeholders can now sit down and work out better framework on how to proceed with the new policy without causing any social and economic disruption and inconvenience to our people. We have examples of other countries that have successfully and seamlessly changed their currencies to learn from.
“Those countries give a long time, at least 12 months to effect the currency change. They do not engage in CBN-like Fire Brigade approach.
“We have seen how a good policy can be poorly implemented to cause unintended problems for the people who should be the beneficiaries. While lessons have been learnt, we must now move on as a country and people with a Renewed Hope for a better tomorrow.
“The sole aim of my running to be the president of our country is to make life better and more abundant for our people and this is an ideal for which I will remain eternally committed to.”
Asiwaju Tinubu called on the CBN to ensure that the Supreme Court ruling is effectively executed by taking all necessary steps to (i) ensure sufficient availability of Naira notes (whether old or new) and (ii) properly sensitising the public on the ruling and the consequent validity of old Naira.

Has Uche Ogah’s Governorship Dream evaporated?

Published

By

Uche Ogah

As a top player in the oil and gas business, Uche Ogah’s paths have been laced with more roses than thorns.
The CEO, Masters Energy, plies his trade to the envy of many of his competitor
However, the man whose business interests include banking, insurance, aviation, shipping, dredging, logistics, construction and hospitality, had taken a wrong step when he dabbled into the murky water of Nigeria’s politics.

His foray into politics can only be described as a misadventure rather than an adventure, as his ambition of becoming the number one citizen of his state has so far amounted to a wild goose chase.
His political trajectory started in 2015 when he lost the Abia State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to the incumbent Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
He had felt like someone whose birth right had been denied him; so, he reportedly spent millions of Naira to reclaim the ticket.
There was palpable joy in his household when Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cede the certificate of return to Ikpeazu, maintaining that he was never qualified to run for the party primaries in the People’s Democratic party (PDP on the grounds of fake tax returns during the primaries.
Justice Abang further ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear in Ogah as the substantive governor of the state.
Following the controversial ruling, his supporters went out in wild jubilation, while the whole state went into a frenzy.
But his balloon of hope was punctured, in spite of the fact that he was presented with a Certificate of Returns by the INEC.
This was so because the Appeal Court in Abuja nullified the Certificate issued to him, a development that finally put paid to his dream.
Surprisingly, in spite of this doleful experience, he never gave up, as he fought and got the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to challenge his old rival, the incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu at the last governorship poll.
Like a serial loser, he was again defeated by Ikpeazu.
To make up for his loss and compensation  for his loyalty for APC, he was appointed Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development.
To him, this was just a stop-gap, as his eyes are set on the number seat in the state.

He couldn’t wait for another election year  in 2022, as he once again threw his hat in the ring for his most cherished ambition.
Though the primary election had been held, it still remains controversial, as two contestants are laying claim to the party’s ticket.
While High Chief Ikechi Emenike is being duly recognised, Ogah has sued the alleged winner and APC for trying to deny him his right.

At the moment, it seems his hope of getting  the number one job of the state may not come true immediately, as the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, last week, dealt a blow to his ambition.
The Appellate Court affirmed Emenike as the Abia governorship candidate of the party for the 2023 election.
Since the development, the oil guru has reportedly been having sleepless nights.  Perhaps, if Ogah had known, he would not have involved himself in the game of politics,
Indeed, if he knew any better, he would remain in his familiar business, making money.
