Israel Adeniyi Nigerian Law School graduate emerges overall best at the 2026 Call to Bar after outstanding academic achievements at Ilorin
Israel Adekunle Adeniyi, a University of Ilorin law graduate from Offa, Kwara State, emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Nigerian Law School at the 2026 Call to Bar ceremony held in Nigeria on Thursday, marking the peak of an exceptional academic journey.
Adeniyi, who completed his Bar Part II programme at the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School, secured the highest honour among graduating law students after previously graduating as the best student in the Common Law programme at the University of Ilorin.
His achievement at the university was already historic, as he recorded a cumulative grade point average of 4.83, the highest ever achieved in the Faculty of Law’s Common Law programme.
The University of Ilorin Law Students’ Society congratulated Adeniyi following the announcement, describing his achievement as an inspiration to current and future law students.
“We extend our sincere congratulations to ISRAEL ADEKUNLE ADENIYI as he emerges as the BEST GRADUATING STUDENT at the Nigerian Law School,” the association said in a statement shared on X.
Adeniyi’s success was also recognised by the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, which presented him with a ₦2 million cash award in appreciation of his academic excellence and commitment to achievement.
The foundation stated that former Senate President Bukola Saraki hosted Adeniyi for a dinner after his remarkable performance at the 2026 Call to Bar ceremony.
“Our Founder, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, hosted Israel Adeniyi Adekunle for dinner following his excellent feat as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Nigerian Law School at the just concluded 2026 Call to Bar Ceremony,” the foundation said.
The organisation added that the award was presented “in recognition of his outstanding performance, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
Adeniyi’s accomplishment places him among a select group of young Nigerian legal professionals who have achieved top honours at both university and professional training levels.
His journey from the University of Ilorin’s Faculty of Law to the Nigerian Law School highlights the impact of academic discipline, consistency and determination in professional development.
