State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed these achievements during a press briefing on Monday, citing intelligence-led clearance operations in Kajuru, Tafa, Igabi, and Kauru Local Government Areas.

“Several bandits’ camps were dislodged during the operations, with some suspects neutralised during exchanges of fire while others escaped with injuries,” Muhammad said.

  • The police recovered a substantial cache of weapons and drugs, including:
  • Three AK-47 rifles and 21 fabricated firearms
  • One sub-machine gun (SMG) rifle and two English pistols
  • Four fabricated pistols
  • Large quantities of hard drugs

Muhammad also highlighted the arrest of five suspected notorious gunrunners. Notably, on February 20, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit apprehended a suspect in Jaji, Igabi Local Government Area, found with six fabricated AK-47 rifles, multiple revolvers and pistols, AK-47 magazines, and a pair of black Wellco boots.

A second suspect from Unguwar Rogo, Jos North, was also arrested in connection with the syndicate.

Earlier, on February 17, three suspects were intercepted at Kasuwan Magani during an intelligence-led operation, with recovered items including a locally fabricated AK-47 and a pump-action gun.

“The achievements underscore the command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven policing aimed at cutting the supply chain of illegal arms fueling banditry and violent crimes,” the commissioner said.

Muhammad pledged continued community engagement, enhanced intelligence gathering, and sustained aggressive operations against all forms of criminality.
