Kano Governor partners IDDEF to expand access to health, education, and humanitarian relief in alignment with the state’s development priorities
Kano Governor partners IDDEF in a renewed effort to scale up humanitarian services and improve socioeconomic well-being across the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to collaborations that deliver tangible benefits for citizens during a courtesy visit by officials of the Turkish humanitarian organisation, İnsana Değer Veren Dernekler Federasyonu (IDDEF), at the Government House in Kano on Tuesday.
The visit and partnership underscore Yusuf’s focus on inclusive development.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, confirmed that the partnership is expected to deepen interventions in health, education, and community welfare.
Governor Yusuf highlighted achievements from the past two years, especially in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and skills training.
He noted that partnerships with humanitarian groups are vital in tackling poverty and youth unemployment.
“Our administration remains open to partnerships that bring value to the lives of our people,” Yusuf said.
“IDDEF’s efforts in health, education, and relief services align perfectly with our development agenda.”
IDDEF, established over 30 years ago by Turkish Islamic cleric Sheikh Mahamud Efendi, now operates in more than 60 countries, including Nigeria.
The foundation’s Board of Trustees member, Sheikh Rasul Jawad, explained that the organisation focuses on education, health services, and clean water provision.
IDDEF’s Nigerian coordinator, Dr Askiya Nasiru Kabara, added that the foundation is set to launch a college in Kano named after Sheikh Mahamud Efendi.
The institution aims to boost access to quality Islamic and conventional education in the state.
